Marco Ciampi

The pianist Marco Ciampi was born in Naples in 1981. He graduated from the prestigious Conservatory “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples in 2003 with the highest marks and praise. His piano studies started under Professor M.L. D’Alessandro and continued with the pianist A. Pennella (a pupil of A. Benedetti Michelangeli, Marguerite Long and Finizio). He completed his formation with Maestro Ciccolini, Howard, Lucchesini, Maione, Marvulli, Nicolosi, Pompa-Baldi, Parente, Spagnolo, Alvino. He studied also composition and conducting in Neapolitan Conservatory.

Ciampi won over 30 national and international piano competitions, including those held in Rome, Salerno, Venice, Naples, and Pesaro. In 2005, he won the second prize (the only prize awarded) in the Italian National Competition „Talent for Music” held at the Conservatorium of Venice. In 2008, Ciampi was awarded the first prize in the International Piano Competition at the Melbourne Italian Festival. Only two months later he was invited again to perform at the “James Tatoulis” Auditorium in Melbourne. He was also one of 36 finalists in the Sydney International Piano Competition and his performance was broadcast live on ABC Classic FM Radio.

He has appeared as a soloist in the most prestigious venues and festivals, such as the International House of Music in Moscow, Carnegie Hall in  New York, Seymour Center Theater in Sydney, Sala Villanueva in Toluca, Theatre „La Fenice” in Venice, Theatre “Coccia” in Novara, Theatre “Diana” and “Scarlatti Hall” in Napoli,  Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome, in the prestigious festivals Jeux d’Art a la Villa d’Este in Tivoli, the Sorrento Summer Music Festival, the Gubbio Summer Festival, the 54th Ohrid Summer Festival and the 46th International Cervo Music Festival, where the critics wrote about his concert: „Masterful performance last night at the Festival…”. He has performed piano recitals also in Mexico, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Germany, France, Norway, Great Britain and Spain.

Marco Ciampi has worked with prominent orchestras as the St. Petersburg State Hermitage Orchestra, Orquesta del Estado de Mexico, Istanbul Philharmonic, Le Muse Chamber Orchestra, Città di Fondi Chamber Orchestra, Busoni Philarmonic Orchestra and Philarmonia Mediterranea. His performances were broadcasted by prestigious radio stations such as Radio Vaticana, ABC Classic FM Australia, Rai 3, Radio Television Serbia and others.

In 2017 he recorded a monographic disc with Rachmaninov’s music.
