Marcel Štefko
Štefko graduated from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava under Marian Lapšanský. He is the prize holder of many international piano competitions such as B. Smetana in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic and the winner of the Competition of the Slovak Conservatories, the International Johann Nepomuk Hummel Piano Competition in Bratislava, Slovak Republic and Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach, Austria.
He attended the international master classes under the guidance of Lazar Berman and Eugen Indjic. In 1996, he gained the scholarship of the Slovak Music Fund and of The Banff Centre for Arts in Canada. In 1998-2000, he completed his post graduate studies with James Tocco at the Musikhochschule Lübeck in Germany as the holder of the prestigious scholarship of the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). Since 2003 he teaches at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava.
As solist and chamber music partner, Marcel Štefko has given concerts in the Slovak and Czech Republic, Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary and he performed at the international festivals: Prague Spring, Bratislava Music Festival, Musikforum Klagenfurt, Pörtschacher Brahms Events, International Johann Nepomuk Hummel Days, International Music Festival Piešťany and others. As a solist he has appeared with the Slovak Philharmony, Cappella Istropolitana, Staatsphilharmonie Kaschau, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Pest Megye Szimfonikus Zenekara under the guidance of Leoš Svárovský, Oliver Dohnányi, Peter Feranec, Marián Lejava, Róbert Stankovský, Jaroslav Kyzlink and Tibor Noseda. As chamber music player Marcel Štefko has given concert performances among others with Martin Babjak, Iveta Matyášová, Terézia Kružliaková, Otakar Klein, Nao Higa.
